Our customers have benefited in several ways since Simm Engineering became part of the Pennine Pneumatic Services group in March 2015 – one of which is through membership of the SafeContractor scheme.
What is SafeContractor?
A leading third-party accreditation scheme Alcumus SafeContractor recognises extremely rigorous standards in health and safety management among contractors.
To achieve accreditation, companies must pass a series of very stringent checks, carried out by the organisation’s accreditors Exor. They must also provide document evidence of a wide range of health and safety processes and procedures, and demonstrate that employees have received the appropriate training.
- Training certification
- PPE (personal protective equipment) issue
- Risk assessments
- Method statements
- Accident statistics
- Testing of tools and equipment
- COSHH assessments
SafeContractor membership must be renewed annually, which means that no accredited company can rest on its laurels.
Who uses SafeContractor?
Organisations in a wide variety of sectors in the UK are awarded SafeContractor accreditation, following a rigorous application procedure. They range from SMEs to companies in the FTSE 100.
Many companies prefer the peace of mind gained from using contractors with high standards of health and safety. Businesses that prefer to vet contractors in advance can access details of accredited companies on the SafeContractor database, which is available online to registered users.
Why did we apply for SafeContractor accreditation?
As a company that likes to build long-term relationships with clients, Simm Engineering has always been committed to achieving excellence in health and safety in the workplace.
We also recognise the importance of having a uniform standard across the businesss, and of adopting good risk management procedures.
As well as helping us to retain clients and win new customers, SafeContractor accreditation can be beneficial when renewing company liability policy with our insurers.
